Maroons Defeat Vipers 6-1
January 18, 2025 | 2 Minute Read
The Chatham Maroons defeated the LaSalle Vipers 6-1 in a game that was tightly contested through two periods, but the Maroons pulled away in the third.
LaSalle took the lead early with a goal from Alec Stewart in the first period, but that would be their only marker of the night. Chatham responded with Brody Gillis scoring in the first and Connor Hunt adding a powerplay goal, putting the Maroons up 2-1 heading into the third.
In the final frame, Chatham extended their lead. Hunt’s pass attempt to Liam Campbell on a 2-on-1 deflected off LaSalle defenseman Noah Caswell and past Vipers goalie Jake Windbiel at 7:56. Just under three minutes later, Carter Chadwick scored on a breakaway to make it 4-1.
"December was huge for us," Chadwick said. "It gave us a lot of confidence. We’re following the coaches’ game plan and getting wins. After a tough loss to St. Mary’s, it felt great to bounce back."
Liam Campbell and Ian Lachance both scored powerplay goals to close out the game, securing a 6-1 victory for Chatham. With the win, the Maroons moved into second place in the Western Conference with 46 points. LaSalle, meanwhile, dropped to sixth place.
“It’s so close now,” said Hunt. “Every game matters, and that makes it more fun to play. We’re focusing on getting every point we can.”
Chatham will host St. Thomas on Sunday, while LaSalle faces the Cyclones on the road.
